I spend most of the time in the studio working mainly in oil, selecting basic-shaped objects and placing them in unfamiliar juxtapositions.
There is something very attractive and universal in the quiet and unassertive; of attempting the reduction of phenomena to their elements in a pictorial form. Also with colour; reducing it, minimising it, ever in the quest of those quintessential notes/tones, the subatomic vibrations of existence.
All things issue forth from stillness, move into activity, and ultimately dissolve back into stillness; for me painting is one manifestation of that bizarre creative cycle.
